The specification is based on requirements of ACI 440.6-08 "Specification for Carbon and Glass Fiber-reinforced Polymer Bar Materials for Concrete Reinforcement"
The fiber content is not less then 55% by volume.
Styrene is not added to the polymer resin.

Viva fiberglass reinforcement is produced according to American Concrete Institution (ACI) standards. Following list of standards covers the sphere of manufacturing, designing and application of fiberglass reinforcement:

American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials (AASHTO)

AASHTO GFRP-1: AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Guide Specifications for GFRP- Reinforced Concrete Bridge Decks and Traffic Railing

American Concrete Institute (ACI)

440.1R-06: Guide for the Design and Construction of Structural Concrete Reinforced with FRP Bars

440.5-08: Specification for Construction with Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Reinforcing Bars

440.6-08: Specification for Carbon and Glass Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Bar Materials for Concrete Reinforcement

440.3R-12: Guide Test Methods for Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Composites for Reinforcing or Strengthening Concrete Masonry Structures

440.2R-08: Guide for the Design and Construction of Externally Bonded FRP Systems for Strengthening Concrete Structures

440.7R-10: Guide for the Design and Construction of Externally Bonded Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Systems for Strengthening Unreinforced Masonry Structures

These standards were identically adopted by the Ghana Standards Authority in 2017 and become Ghana Standards.

We are making sure that quality of our product always stays on the highest level. That’s why our quality control system consists of two levels:

  • yearly standardization of manufacturing process by Ghana Standards Authority
  • permanent testing of manufactured product in certified laboratories with oversight by Bureau Veritas

You can observe license and example of test results below:

In order to ensure manufacturing process and consequently high quality of finish goods produced by Viva & Co Ghana Limited, we are working with world leaders in supplies of raw materials.

Although fiberglass reinforcement is well known worldwide, this material is still quite new for West Africa. That’s why, to make sure that product has been applied correctly, in each country we are working hand in hand with a certified engineers and grateful for their support.
